NTT DATA Corporation conducted the Grand Finale of NTT DATA Open Innovation Contest 11 on January 29, 2021. The Open Innovation Contest provides a platform for start-ups to build and scale their solution in collaboration with our clients and various NTT DATA group companies. The contest was spread across the globe with several start-ups vying for $100,000 in funding and a year of mentorship!

The contest hosted in 13 countries, received more than 260 applications from all over the world. To promote the contest in India, NTT DATA Services partnered with three leading organizations –  NASSCOM, IEEE and TIE and conducted webinars with them, where 170 start-ups participated.  Kris Fitzgerald, Chief Technology Officer, NTT DATA Services, hosted the webinars and shared his insights on emerging trends in technology and innovation, and the opportunity for startups to connect, engage through NTT DATA’s Open Innovation Contest. We curated a panel for each webinar and invited eminent speakers from the start-up industry.

It is noteworthy that in the Grand Finale, two Indian start-ups were shortlisted. And, among the two, Inspektlabs, won the NTT DATA Open Innovation Contest. The Grand Champion Inspektlabs‘ proposal for NTT DATA was to create a business using their technology that can identify parts of a vehicle or damage on a vehicle from a smartphone photograph or video and create an inspection report within seconds.

“NTT DATA is built on a culture of innovation. We continue to explore possibilities for new technologies through various global initiatives and Open Innovation Contest is a demonstration of it. It is very heartening to see an Indian start-up win this global contest, which is proof that India is indeed an emerging hub of Innovation”, said Dr. Harsh Vinayak, Senior Vice President, Intelligent Automation & Data Services, NTT DATA Services.
