Adventures in the Digital
Wonderland

Down the rabbit hole…
You know that bit in ‘Alice in the Wonderland’ where Alice falls down the rabbit
hole, only to discover a stranger, weirder, albeit fantastical and hence
adventurous world; and wonders:
“It was much pleasanter at home, when one wasn’t always growing larger
and smaller, and being ordered about by mice and rabbits. I almost wish I
hadn’t gone down that rabbit-hole — and yet — and yet — it’s rather
curious, you know, this sort of life! I do wonder what can have happened to
me! When I used to read fairy-tales, I fancied that kind of thing never
happened, and now here I am in the middle of one!”
If you’re an Enterprise Technology Decision Maker, you’ve probably gone past
that wondrous feeling, and have found your footing to live with the constant
state of disruption.
Or Have you?

Business
as we
know it…
• Revenue models are being transformed to go Digital.
• Delivery models are increasingly being driven by Digital.
• Payment systems, Customer service and Marketing operations are
leveraging Digital Technologies as the new normal.
• Manufacturing and Supply Chain are finding new ways to efficiency
through Digital.
All functions and facets of the enterprises are adopting Digital.
…is changing.
…has changed!
4
Digital is not just a Disruption.
It’s today’s reality!
Digital Businesses are being born – businesses that are
conceived in the age of digital transformation,
businesses that are inherently Digital.
Digital is not an addendum to business.
Digital is not a leverage mechanism.
Digital is the way of doing things.
Digital is the DNA, the genetic Code.
5
And, if that wasn’t enough!
Customer experience is no more a competitive
edge, but a fundamental expectation.
Technological and demographic revolutions are making change felt across the
board, forcing you to rethink your business models and modus operandi.
Millennials are joining the workforce as well as the customer base, making
traditional models irrelevant.
6
There has never been a
more exciting or
challenging time to be
in Enterprise Technology
than right now.
There has never been
a scarier, more
exposed, time to be in
Enterprise Technology
than right now.
The Decision Maker’s Paradox
7
Role of Enterprise Technology
in Digital Age has been
fundamentally rewritten.
(And, so has your Job Description!)
You need to think afresh, act like a new age business, and yet, perform with maturity & experience.
You need the speed of a small and agile organization, and yet, operate at multi geography scale.
You need flexible, responsive & resilience operations, and yet, standards, efficiency and consistency.
You need to refresh your business, without throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
You need to adopt Digital, without causing disruption in the existing business.
You need to transform your enterprise, without having to deal with risky executive decisions.
8
Role of Enterprise Technology
in Digital Age has been
fundamentally rewritten.
(And, so has your Job Description!)
What are the imperatives?
What do you need to do?
9
More than a ‘Mad Tea Party’!
‘Two days wrong!’ sighed the Hatter. ‘I told you butter wouldn’t suit the works!’
‘It was the best butter,’ the March Hare meekly replied.
‘Yes, but some crumbs must have got in as well,’ the Hatter grumbled: ‘you shouldn’t have put it in with the bread-knife.’
Imperative 1: Delight Your Customers!
Map every interaction. Harness
the power of right content in
the right customer context.
10
It’s a ‘Red Queen’s Race’!
“Well, in our country,” said Alice, still panting a little, “you’d generally get to somewhere else—if you run very fast
for a long time, as we’ve been doing.”
“A slow sort of country!” said the Queen. “Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to keep in the
same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!”
Imperative 2: Be Faster than the Fastest!
Ensure a response to every
change. So, the right action is
taken at the right time.
11
Set them free, they’ll ‘fly’!
Alice looks up, asks, “Do you ever wonder what it would be like to fly?”
Imperative 3: Make your Business Infinite!
Make workplaces efficient and
accessible. So, business can
happen anywhere.
12
#1 Delight Your Customers
An infinite workplace is where everyone works, wherever they are with easy and real time access, to whatever
their work demands.
#2 Faster than the fastest
Exceeding customer expectations is now expected. Especially because of the nexus of forces. Every interaction
with the customer must be designed and mapped to ensure the right message at the right time.
#3 Business that is Infinite
An organization should be able to respond to any change with agility. Whether it stems from the market, competition,
or even a single interaction with a customer.
13
You need to Connect.
You need to Integrate.
The silos of your enterprise need to
connect.
You need to connect systems, processes, people and things.
The moving gears of the business
operations need to integrate.
The various parts of the process need
to orchestrate.
14
You need to…
Reinvent Your Workplace
Reinvent the way your enterprise operates to
get more responsive to shifts in contexts –
internal as well as external.
You need to “Reinvent Your Workplace” –
connect your systems, processes, people and
things in innovative ways to create an engaging
and responsive enterprise.
15
And, ‘the porpoise’?
And the Mock Turtle said, “No wise fish would go anywhere without a porpoise.”
You need a partner you can trust.
A partner with a purpose.
A partner who has the answers.
`Of course not,’ said the Mock Turtle: `why, if a fish came to me, and told me he was going a journey,
I should say “With what porpoise?”‘
`Don’t you mean “purpose”?’ said Alice.
`I mean what I say,’ the Mock Turtle replied in an offended tone. And the Gryphon added `Come, let’s
hear some of your adventures.’
So what’s your next purposeful adventure?
