Why I Love TIBCO—London Sales Team

Blog: The Tibco Blog

TIBCO Software is a great place to work, with intelligent, energetic employees who contribute to the success of the company and love what they do each day. We are back at it with another interview with three awesome TIBCO employees. Alex Amigo, Richard Champ, and Kunal Mahapatra, all members of the London sales team, share what helped them choose TIBCO, how they make a difference, and more.

The TIBCO Blog: What does the London sales department look like for you, in your role?
Alex Amigo: I work as CAE within a pod of more senior sales members in a pure sales role involving closing deals, personal branding, networking, partner relationship building, account management for existing customers, and more.
Richard Champ: I also work as a CAE within our pod structure, and focus on furthering customers’ interest and investment in TIBCO. I’m also involved in various projects, building strategic partnerships with firms, business development activities in the FMCG, hospitality, and leisure sectors.
Kunal Mahapatra: I am a CAP within the pod structure, where I  generate leads and pipeline, organise events, cold-call, and help the pod leader as needed.

TTB: How long have you been at TIBCO?
AA: 8 months
RC: 9 months
KM:
8 months

TTB: How does TIBCO differ from other organizations you have worked for?
AA: I come from a background of working in startups, but the culture at TIBCO doesn’t feel much different. Despite the size of the company, there is still a ‘startup vibe’ and employees have autonomy in their work.
RC: For the technology we pioneer, TIBCO is seen as more of a strategic partner by customers than in other companies. We are not merely a solution to a problem or supplier to a customer, but foster a more dynamic relationship in the financial services and telecommunications sectors.
KM: The culture. If you are self-driven, you will succeed. Teams and managers believe in you and you are able to reach out for support as needed. There’s a strong internal drive here at TIBCO.

TTB: What made you choose TIBCO?
AA: The sector of operations, technology, and Fast Data platform. I was looking to enhance my career, and for room to grow as individual with open doors in the future. New management and great office location in central London as tech hub were also enticing qualities.
RC:
The senior management’s passion for technology, the stringent selection process, my personal ambitions in line with what senior management felt he could achieve with TIBCO, and career progression opportunities.
KM: The industry of operations, appeal of the mid-sized company—it’s too big to be a startup, but still has that personal touch—Fast Data, and go-to-market strategy.

TTB: How does your work impact TIBCO’s customers?
AA: I work to help foster innovation and digitalisation in company operations, as well as revenue stream generation. I’m also evolving and changing the nature of sales roles today by taking a consultative approach, focusing on relationship building as well as challenging customers to optimise their business operations through digital innovation.
RC: I provide a level of professionalism to varying customer interactions with a customer-first focus and unified customer-partner link across departments.
KM: By promoting TIBCO’s activities, delivering the TIBCO message, organising events, creating buzz around TIBCO in the UK, and sharing the Fast Data vision in the new digital era. I help customers focus on the right mission to have in our current era of digital transformation

TTB: What was your biggest or toughest problem you’ve solved within the last year?
AA: Managing new accounts and taking the four quadrants approach.
RC: Moving a customer to an agile interaction project, which meant saving them 2 million GBP per year. I started working on this in November, and reviewed historical resources, evaluated customer requirements, and designed proposal with help of consultants. My focus was on value for money, high quality in execution, and being a long-term success partner
KM: Having an expanded footprint in the hospitality and leisure sector and using previous customer success stories. Also increased confidence and more knowledge about the IT sector, helping me to now be able to deliver the TIBCO message confidently to enterprise-level prospects.

TTB: If you could only use 3 descriptive words; how would you describe your time at TIBCO to date?
AA: Enlightening, challenging, and exciting
RC: Interesting and forward-thinking
KM: Challenging, inspiring, and creative

TTB: What advice do you have for someone who is interested in pursuing a career at TIBCO?
AA: Do it! TIBCO is definitely a good company to work for—it’s a company that allows you to work smartly but against KPIs, and you need to be self-motivated.
RC: Great company! You need to be enthusiastic, passionate, and driven about what you do. If your ambitions are unsettled and you would like to work for a company with a horizontal organisational structure where hard work is recognised and rewarded, this is the place to be.
KM: Definitely a unique company—if you are creative, innovative, and hungry to succeed, you will be well compensated for your efforts. We are in the business of selling innovation!
