We live in a quantum world

Quantum speed
The latest technology developments are expanding at quantum speed. A good example is the next quantum computer. It has the computational power of the whole universe. This computer will exist within five years. The one after that will have the computing power of parallel universes.
Some other important developments are:
- Nanotechnology
Creating new materials, building up from atom size to a material. - Blockchain
Creating the new worldwide operating system – the new worldwide reputation system for transactions. - Artificial intelligence (AI) including Deep Learning
Creating new lines of thinking – AI computers can see, listen, interpret, and translate than the average human.
It is not unlike inventing the microscope, the electron microscope and the qtomic force microscope in one go. We moved from a linear era to an exponential era and are now moving to a quantum era. The world has become quantum: 1, 2, 3, 1000, 10.000.000.000, 10 to the power of 23.
How do you cope with such speed?
The world is going faster and faster. Long-term planning and old-fashioned product development (requirements, design, develop, test, deliver) are too slow for this world. Start tinkering. If you don’t, you will lose. With tinkering I mean that you need short cycles for valuable feedback and to be able to react in time so that you are not late to deliver that value. If you are too slow, others will beat you to it, and you will be considered out of date. If you snooze, you lose. Don’t stay thinking and talking. Start doing.
Tinkering methodologies
Good examples of valuable tinkering are: Design Thinking and Lean Startup. Design Thinking is a process for creative problem solving, optimized for challenges with high uncertainty and limited existing data. Problems cannot be solved with the same reasoning that caused them to arise. To create a more appropriate solution, the problem must be redefined. You do not only need to learn Design Thinking, you also have to experience it. Lean Startup has conquered the world from Silicon Valley. Lean Startup is a lightweight method to iterate a product–market fit for the product you have in mind. The Lean Startup ideas enable you to develop much more effective products. Organizations today cannot submerge six months to develop a new product. Product development is done in continuous interaction with the customer. The heart of Lean Startup is the build-measure-learn loop. In addition, concepts like MVP, pivot and innovation, and accounting play an important role. Not just startups, but also larger organizations, adopt Lean Startup in developing new products.
