TIBCO NOW London—Day 2: Enabling Customer Innovation

Blog: The Tibco Blog

With day two in London coming to a close, that’s a wrap on the 2019 TIBCO NOW Global Tour. Today’s General Session started the day, energizing the room thanks to TIBCO CEO Dan Streetman’s infectious enthusiasm for innovation and collaboration.

Streetman’s history lesson on the importance of innovation and collaboration made a real impact on the audience. He discussed several individuals from the past millennium who have created brilliant innovations leading to today’s most impressive accomplishments. “Innovation enables innovation, even before we know where it might go,” Streetman said when sharing how a Spanish colonel’s pressurized suit invention eventually led to man first stepping foot on the moon, and how the technology in Austrian actress Hedy Lamarr’s torpedo-detecting device is now used in Bluetooth technology all over the world.

TIBCO: Powering your Life

After Streetman’s shoutout to some of our innovative clients—Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport, Aeroporti di Roma, SEPA—customers and partners took over the stage to tell us how TIBCO has impacted their digital journeys.

Schlumberger President of Software Integration Solutions Trygve Randen shared his story on how the oil and gas services company made the decision to completely disrupt itself in order to establish market leadership in the oil and gas software industry. TIBCO aided in that accomplishment, Randen explained, resulting in decreased job time, on average, from 13 to 2.5 months, and engineer work from 120 days to 3 days. “TIBCO enables you to power your life,” Randen said.

“Our partnership with TIBCO has lasted 20-plus years, and in that time we’ve worked on aligning strategies, aligning the objectives of our organizations to unlock the benefits and provide value for your clients.” Roshan Shetty, Head of FS for Benelux, Switzerland & Nordics at Infosys, discussed the longstanding partnership with TIBCO’s VP of Global Partners Jason Johns. Remaining relevant to clients is part of Infosys’ mission, and it does so by continuously reinventing. “Technology changes at a rapid pace, as do business models. Our clients and organizations are reinventing, so we must, too,” Shetty stated.

Cosentino Group’s Gemma Hernández represented the family-owned design materials company to share the transformation story of going from a 17-employee organization to one of 5,500, with locations on five continents, and how TIBCO has been vital in that. “We were only looking inside,” Hernández explained, “but we wanted to be business and customer-focused. TIBCO was a fundamental cornerstone in helping us have an impact on the consumer.”

TIBCO COO Matt Quinn and Vice President of Amazon Web Services (AWS) David McCann took a moment to chat about how the cloud industry has changed and how AWS has pioneered many of those changes. “Our goal is to enable customer innovation,” McCann said of AWS.

The two companies have shared many goals over the years, and McCann took the opportunity to announce that support for TIBCO Cloud Integration on Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Services and on TIBCO Flogo is now available

The final customer to take the stage, from right here in the UK, showed the audience its plan to become the UK’s best-loved brand via trendy, modern marketing campaigns and enhanced service offerings. Phil Sheppard, Director of Strategy and Architecture at Three UK, took us through the telecommunications and internet service provider’s plan to leverage TIBCO solutions. “We are no longer held back by legacy thinking, we are digital-first and future-proofed,” Sheppard said of Three’s TIBCO-backed strategy.

The General Session wrapped up with a warm send-off from Senior Director of Marketing, EMEA, Emma Acton as she invited all in attendance to join us again in 2020 at TIBCO NOW in Las Vegas, Nevada. The afternoon included more sessions and hands-on labs and ended on a more relaxed note, as conference attendees gathered one final time to share a few drinks, network, and discuss the future of innovation.

Sr. Marketing Director, EMEA, Emma Acton gives the audience a warm send-off.

Thank you to all who helped to make the sold-out 2019 TIBCO NOW Global Tour a success. We look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas next year! In the meantime, you can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram at the hashtag #TIBCONOW.
