The Intelligence of Process and The Magic Quadrant for iBPMS

Blog: Bizagi Blog

Gartner’s latest magic quadrant is out and in case you missed the news, Bizagi has again been recognized as a ‘Challenger’. For a limited time you can download a complimentary copy of the full report.

Now it’s no surprise to us to be recognized again given our disruptive customer-first business model. But beyond the positioning of individual vendors this report provides a vital annual viewpoint on the direction of travel for this category of technologies and the evolving role of iBPMS / digital business platforms in digital transformation.

This year, Gartner defines the role of an iBPMS as:

“An iBPMS orchestrates an organization’s work to produce business outcomes that can far exceed those from typical process efficiency and performance measures. It enables organizations to improve the business outcomes of all types of work, not just structured and repeatable business processes. It does so without unnecessarily standardizing the activities and flows, and thus orchestrates the work in a situationally adaptive way.”

From my perspective this viewpoint highlights two key insights:

> The huge untapped potential for another level of digital efficiency in organizations across many industries

> The importance of agility in processes and creating systems that can change based on data-driven insights

Intelligence is the key to digital business

Intelligence is the critical element for delivering against these aspirations. By building intelligence into processes organizations can unlock the full potential of greater operational efficiency and advanced customer experiences, and then continue building on the success over time using the analytics that only digital processes provide.

Success in the digital age demands this kind of actionable, advanced analytics to “more-intelligently orchestrate business operations across the virtual and physical worlds” by continuously generating insights from situational context using both historical and real-time information.

Whatever the requirement, putting a connecting wrap around your existing systems is pivotal to enabling change. Doing so unlocks the intelligence that’s often trapped inside the organization. Through this, it facilitates a different way of working for staff, a new experience for customers and a more effective way of doing business.
