The Formula One Season Has Been Anything But Spooky: Check Out TIBCO’s Highlights

Blog: The Tibco Blog

Reading Time: 3 minutes

We’re getting ready for Halloween celebrations here at TIBCO, and the Mercedes-AMG Petronas team is gearing up for the next race weekend. We’re excited for a competitive high-altitude race in Mexico City, followed by the last four races in Brazil, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the finale in Abu Dhabi. This season has been anything short of intense, exciting, and unpredictable.

Max Verstappen may be in the lead, but Sir Lewis Hamilton is not giving up. The Team at Mercedes-AMG Petronas is kicking into high gear as the season comes to a close. So how does the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One team prepare for excellence at every turn? With trusted and preferred partners like TIBCO.

Did that video hype you up for the next race? Check out what else is new with the TIBCO and Mercedes winning partnership!

We Thrive As One

During TIBCO NOW 2021, Sir Lewis Hamilton, seven-time FIA Formula One World Drivers Champion for Mercedes, and Dan Streetman, TIBCO CEO, discussed Lewis’ journey to becoming one of the most decorated drivers in F1, including the extra challenges he faced as the only black racer at the track growing up and one of few drivers coming from a working-class background.

If you missed it, here are some of the highlights from Hamilton:

“I’ve always wondered, why me? Why am I only the black driver here? What am I going to do with this platform? Last year, I realized that in every room I go into, I’m still the only person of color there. I’ve been on this journey of challenging leaders and sparking conversations, which is uncomfortable at the beginning, but still beautiful.”

“When I was young, I just wanted to be a racecar driver. But now, if I can look back and see that F1 represents outer society, I will know that I have been a part of that. That, for me, trumps all the championships I have won. Helping people is such a beautiful thing.”

The Hamilton Commission launched the Hamilton Report earlier this year, covering the top 10 recommendations for motorsport to improve diversity. F1 President and CEO of Formula 1 Stefano Domenicali said the sport is committed to change and will take action.

2022 Season Announced

Even though the champion hasn’t been crowned this year, we’re already excited for next season, featuring a brand new track in Miami.

Originally planned to debut in 2019 or 2020, the Miami racetrack has a length of 3,362 miles with 19 turns in total and an average speed of 138 mph. The circuit was expected to use parts of the city streets like Monaco, but after several meetings, the Miami International Autodrome will only use the facilities around the Hard Rock Stadium.

In the absence of Portugal, there are four Grand Prix returning: Australia, Canada, Japan, and Singapore.

The Austin Race Heats Up Competition

Howdy, y’all! Did you catch the race in Austin, Texas? Max Verstappen from Red Bull raced ahead of the competition, putting a massive 12 point difference in front of Hamilton for the Driver’s Championship. With only a few races left, who will win the 2021 Formula One season?

Usually, fan-favorite Lewis Hamilton is top of the driver list for most of the season. However, fans this year have been treated to intense competition between Mercedes and Red Bull. To gain his eighth championship, Hamilton has several races to win—which is no easy task given the speed of Red Bull’s engines this year and the team’s past history at Mexico City and Brazil.

Stay tuned for continued battling at high altitudes in Mexico City, the air is thinner, and engines—and drivers—have to work harder.
