Juneteenth: A Day of Reflection

Blog: The Tibco Blog

Reading Time: 2 minutes

“The most critical part of this journey is us leaning into our discomfort, facing our fears, facing our past, looking forward as to how we can work together and be different people.” -David D. Jones, Chief Human Resources Officer, Stanford Health Care

This year, TIBCO had committed to spending the month of June reflecting on the many ways our employees’ unique backgrounds form our company’s strengths as a part of our “We are TIBCO: Diversity & Inclusion Month.” We never imagined the tragic events that would unfold in parallel, sparking important, uncomfortable, and ultimately inspiring conversations throughout the world and our organization.

Our global fireside chats with leaders like David Jones and Katie Rasoul have helped open up a crucial dialogue within TIBCO about what we can do as an organization to better understand and begin to correct systemic inequalities.

In that spirit, TIBCO’s executive leadership team has chosen to observe Juneteenth this Friday, June 19th as a day of learning and service for TIBCO’s global employees. By challenging ourselves to spend the day asking questions and doing research, we aim to achieve a deeper collective understanding of the issues at hand in order to inform our actions moving forward.

Please join us in taking a moment on Friday to recognize the profound contributions of our colleagues of color, as well as the need for individuals at every level of an organization to create permanent change by speaking out in the name of justice and equality for all.
