Data Virtualization Heats Up in Germany

Blog: The Tibco Blog

TDWI Munich, with thousands of attendees and nearly a hundred sponsors, is Germany’s premier annual data and analytics event. I was fortunate to be invited to speak about artificial intelligence and machine learning there this year.

While there, I took advantage of the opportunity to do some informal market research on data and analytics trends. In attending sessions and meeting with the users, analysts, TIBCO partners, and others in attendance, I noted a consistent topic—data virtualization.

It seems that the twin challenges of accelerating demand for data and increasing distributed data supplies have reached a breaking point in Germany. The old ways of integrating and supplying data for the business simply aren’t keeping pace. And thus a new way, data virtualization, with its more agile, yet governed approach to data delivery is gaining momentum.  It seemed like data virtualization was everywhere at the conference.

Data Virtualization Dominates the TDWI Agenda

Data virtualization dominated this year’s TDWI Conference agenda with a mix of customer, analyst, and vendor sessions. Here is a short list:

TIBCO’s Partners are All In for Data Virtualization

It was also great to co-sponsor our booth with TIBCO partners, Prodato Integration Technology and Quinscape. Two of Germany’s leading data and analytics system integrators, both have recently expanded their TIBCO Spotfire® and TIBCO® Data Science practices to add TIBCO® Data Virtualization and TIBCO EBX™. Thank goodness they were with us, as the data virtualization conversations at our booth were non-stop.

Connected Data Group, a TIBCO Partner and data virtualization specialist from The Netherlands was also on site to share their experiences, along with their partner, Genesee Academy, the world’s premier provider of data vault training and certification. How to combine the benefits of both data virtualization and data vault was a recurring theme throughout the event, so it was great to have the world’s leading experts on this subject there to cover the topic in depth.

Following the event, I led a half-day TIBCO® Data Virtualization partner workshop with nearly 30 participants. Exponentially growing business demand for data, increasingly distributed data, and not enough time or data engineering resources to fill the gap were common themes across these partners’ client bases. And helping their clients address these challenges with their common goal. All saw data virtualization as the kind of well-engineered solution that their German clients would appreciate, making our discussions lively yet pragmatic.

The Time is Now for Data Virtualization

If you are interested in data virtualization and its many benefits as one virtual place to go for consistent, secure, governed data, join TIBCO and our partners, Connected Data Group, BUTOS, Prodato, and QuinScape on December 3rd for a half-day event in Frankfurt.

At the event, discover how TIBCO and our partners can help you deliver the modern data infrastructure required to gain the data-driven insights and agility your organization requires. And hear first hand from candymaker Cloetta on how it used TIBCO® Data Virtualization to improve forecasting and optimized campaigns, sales, and inventory levels.
