Why Integration is a Key Component of a Digital Business Platform

Blog: The Tibco Blog

One of the greatest obstacles to digital transformation is that enterprises spend too much time and too many resources devoted to technology, and not enough time or resources on the processes that technology enables.

To top it off, this year, spending on disparate traditional integration tools (such as digital data integration tools, managed file transfer suites, ESB suites, API management platforms, and message-oriented middleware) will exceed $12B. Apparently, established approaches and technologies aren’t working anymore.

What enterprises need is a digital business platform that helps them harness all of their horsepower — hardware, software, people, and processes — to create momentum to react quickly to change, and to learn and act automatically. To attain a digital business platform, enterprises need pervasive integration.

To enable pervasive integration, enterprises should get familiar with the concept of a hybrid integration platform (HIP). An HIP is a framework of on-premises and cloud-based integration and governance capabilities that allows people with varying degrees of skills, both specialists and non-specialists, to support a wide variety of use cases. It serves all the different constituents, integration platforms, endpoints, and deployment models an enterprise has. An HIP gives your enterprise the space for both tight governance (mostly handled by Core IT) combined with bandwidth for innovation (mostly led by Edge IT).

The reality is, if you are an enterprise in today’s landscape, somebody out there is already out-innovating you with a much-reduced footprint and a deeper appetite for experimentation. How can you hope to compete? Look to pervasive integration as a plausible answer.
