What mum said and how it could transform your business
Do you remember the old song by Junior Giscombe “Mama used to say”?
A part of it was this:
And mama used to say, “Take your time young man”
And mama used to say, “Don’t you rush to get old”
And mama used to say, “Take it in your stride”
And mama used to say, “Live your life”
Well it got me thinking about some of the things my mum used to say, did your mum ever say any of these:
- I don’t care what “everyone” is doing. I care what YOU are doing!
- I’m doing this for your own good or two wrongs don’t make a right.
My all-time favourite and one I believe in and use to this very day is ‘treat people the way you want to be treated’.
If you use this towards your customers they generally repay you by buying more of your services and products.

Dealing with problems promptly can enhance the brand of your business. Saying please and thank you can go a long way to your customer being extremely satisfied and coming back again and again.
So next time you have a customer in front of you or on the phone remember what your ‘mama used to say’ and see your profits skyrocket.
