Time to deliver a decision optimization model to the business user

Blog: Decision Management Community

Alain Chabrier and Alex Fleischer from IBM Decision Optimization team have just published the article “Decision Optimization: Speed is not enough”Many tend to think that performance is the holy grail, and the choice of an optimization engine is mostly based on reviewing speed and performance. In practice, this means their engine selection process is reduced to taking the engine which is the fastest to reach and prove optimal solution, on average, on a given set of benchmarking models. This article aims at challenging this idea… While different engines may be twice faster to solve a given model, it is sometimes possible to be ten or hundred times faster with some improvements in the model itself. It’s time to deliver a model to the business user.” Link
