On the Radar: Salient Process
|
Salient Process provides decision and process management services and tools (namely, the SPARK Toolkits) that support organisations develop process applications, based on IBM Business Process Manager software and its own agile, full-lifecycle business process management methodology.
Who?
Salient Process is based in Sacramento, CA, U.S. (with offices in Dallas, TX and Denver CO).
What does it do?
Salient Process’s main business is the provision of consulting services relating to IBM Smarter Process technologies (i.e. IBM Business Process Manager, IBM Operational Decision Manager, and IBM Decision Server Insights). Although its core offering includes services for Assessments (reviewing and documenting its clients’ as-is and to-be BPM project states), Implementation (assisting clients with consultancy support to accelerate BPM implementation), Health Checks (post-implementation review to assist its clients in getting the most value from a BPM project), BPM Project / Programme Management; Support; and Mentoring – this report is focused on the SPARK software toolkits the company provides in support of that work:
- SPARK User Interface (UI) Toolkit (the primary subject of this report), designed to enhance the out-of-the-box capabilities of IBM BPM Coach NG authoring tool for process applications with user interfaces. It provides highly configurable controls that provide full control of process application look and feel and behaviour.
- SPARK Portal Builder (PB) Toolkit, providing controls that give developers full ability to customise the presentation and behaviour of a BPM portal (down to the Task UI frame). It also provides a ‘push-mode’ pattern that can implement ‘get-next’ interactions with users (where individuals are given tasks without selecting them).
- SPARK External Participant (EP) Toolkit, providing a secure means of accessing dashboards and process instance tasks for organisations whose end users (of IBM BPM tasks and services) may include people not registered as licensed IBM BPM users.
