Medicaid Enterprise Systems Conference-Serco & Appian Working Together

Blog: Appian Insight

Prior to joining Appian I spent the last few years of my career supporting a variety of federal customers, including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid services, helping to stand up the Affordable Care Act with Appian’s partner Serco. One thing that struck me throughout that work was the realization that many people seem to think just because the scale of a program gets larger, the costs for doing such business should go down as economies of scale set it.

In reality, across much of the Federal government, the opposite can be true. It seems that the larger a federal program gets, the more complex the implementation and operations of that program tend to be. This manifests for a lot of different reasons:

During my previous work, I saw firsthand how the mitigation of these factors are carried out, Some mitigations simply require manpower, while technology can alleviate others–either way, there is no silver bullet.

Later this month, I’m pleased to be sharing the stage with John Lau from Serco to discuss this subject at the Medicaid Enterprise Systems Conference (MESC) in St. Louis on Tuesday, August 16 at 8 a.m.

John will be discussing how Serco has worked tirelessly through the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) solution to carry out consistently higher levels of customer satisfaction to consumers. They’ve done this by blending the best of people management with leading edge technology to deliver excellent service at a fair and reasonable price.

Here at Appian, we’ve developed solutions that recognize the balance that government and contractors must find in order to deliver services to their constituents at a fair and reasonable price. Appian provides software that’s flexible enough to deliver complex, rules-based applications across multiple delivery channels, while also making it easier for  government and contractor staff to use.

During MESC I’ll be available to meet one on one to discuss these features, along with Appian’s capabilities that could specifically benefit your business.

Please stop by Booth 95, where we will be demonstrating one of the Applications Serco uses to support the ACA, as well as an application developed in conjunction with QSSI supporting the MACBIS program. NOt able to make the conference? Shoot me an email and we’ll set up a time to chat: Jason.Adolf@appian.com.
