Deepshikha, SpeakIn’s Founder speaks to Shri. Saurabh Srivastava who is one of India’s leading entrepreneurs, investors and institution builders. He has worked extensively in the US, UK, Singapore and India. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has presented him an award for contribution to the Indian IT Industry and the President of India has awarded him the Padma Shri.
He co-founded and Chaired key institutions of modern India focused on IT and entrepreneurship: NASSCOM, Indian Venture Capital Association; TiE; Indian Angel Network, world’s largest angel investor group with over 100 portfolio companies, 470 investor members globally.
His public service commitments: National Innovation Council, PM’s Empowered Committee on Excellence in Public Administration, SEBI Committee on VC/PE Funds, Indian Government’s Fund of Funds’ Investment Committee, Bombay Stock Exchange Hi-Tech Advisory Panel, Railway Expert Committee, Incubation and Technology Entrepreneurship and many more.
After a successful stint in the US and India with IBM and Unisys, he turned to entrepreneurship and founded several successful IT companies, one ranked amongst the top 20 Indian software companies. He created India’s first and highly successful private sector VC Fund, which created IndiaBulls and Avendus. He’s invested in 100 plus start-ups and mentored hundreds of entrepreneurs.
He is a co-founder of Ashoka University, served on the Advisory Board of Imperial College Business School, London and was adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at IIT Mumbai. He has a Masters from Harvard University, a B Tech from IIT Kanpur. Awards include “Distinguished Alumnus Award” from IIT, the DataQuest Lifetime Achievement Award for IT, Patrick J McGovern Lifetime Achievement Award for Entrepreneurship and an Honorary Doctorate in Technology from the University of Wolverhampton, UK
