Major performance improvements as we migrate to new hardware platform

Blog: ProcessMate

We are working on the performance improvement through upgrading our hardware.

What we have done:

  • Migrated from AMD Athlon 64-based hardware platform to Xeon E3-platform
  • And enteprise SATA hard drives
  • Internet channel upgraded from 100Mbit/sec to 1Gbit/sec
  • Removed part of the workload, such as email reports to standalone servers to offload the main application servers
  • What we have achieved

  • 85.5% improvement in throughput, which means that the number of requests-responses almost doubled
  • 49.4% reduction of average request-response time, based on the few frequently used responses
  • Minimum request-response time reduced from 0.22 to 0.11 sec
  • Minimum request time chart: reduction from 0.22 to 0.11 sec

  • Maximum request-response time reduced from 3.8 to 2.2 sec
  • Maximum request time chart: reduction from 3.8 to 2.2 sec

And if that’s not enough, we are working further to optimize the use of database through caching mechanisms.
