Key Process Activities for 2016

Blog: Collaborative Planning & Social Business

Six key process activities coming in 2016: Adaptive CM Workshop, ACM Awards, BPM Next, BPM and Case Management Global Summit, BPM 2016 Conference and (updated) CBI Conference.

1. Adaptive CM Workshop – Sept 5 or 6, 2016

This marks the fifth year that we have been able to hold this full day International Workshop on Adaptive Case Management and other non-workflow approaches to BPM.   Past workshops have been the premier place to publish rigorously peer reviewed scientific papers on the groundbreaking new technologies.  See the submission instructions.   Submission abstracts are due 10 April 2016, and notification to authors in June 2016.  Co-located with the IEEE EDOC 2016 September 5-9, 2016 in Vienna, Austria.

2. ACM Awards – Apply Now

The WfMC will be running another ACM awards program to recognize excellent use of case management style approaches to supporting knowledge workers.  The awards are designed to help show how flexible, task tracking software is increasingly used by knowledge workers with unpredictable work patterns.  Winners are recognized on the hall of fame site (see sample page highlighting a winner) and in a ceremony at the BPM and Case Management Summit in June. Each winning use case is published so that others can know about the good work you have been doing, and can follow your lead.  This series of books is the premier source of best practices in the case management space.  Submit proposals and abstracts now for help and guidance in preparing a high quality entry, and final submission due April 2015.

3. BPM Next – April 19-21, 2016

The meeting of the gurus in the BPM space.  BPM Next is where the leaders of the industry come together to discuss evolving new approaches, and to help understand the leading trends.  The engineering-oriented talks are required to have a demo of actual running code to avoid imaginative, but unrealistic, fantasies.  This year the presentations will all start with an “Ignite” presentation which has exactly 20 slides and lasts exactly 5 minutes to reign in the guru’s natural tendency for lengthy and wordy presentations.  The program is already set however attendee registration is still open.  This year it will be held again in  the quaint old-town of Santa Barabara.

4. BPM and Case Management Global Summit – June 2016

The premier independent industry show for the full range of process technologies.  Many of last year’s attendees described this as the best, most informative, conference on BPM and ACM that they had ever seen.  It’s the third year to be held at the Ritz-Carlton in Washington DC.  The last two years have seen this as the premier place for serious discussions of both Case Management and BPM.

5. BPM 2016 Conference

This year the BPM2016 Conference will be held September 18-22, 2016 in exotic Rio de Janiero, Brazil.  The conference includes the Main Track, Doctoral Consortium, Workshops, Demos, Tutorials and Panels, Industry track, and other Co-located Events.  (I can’t go this year, but I sure wish I was!)

6.CBI 2016 Conference  (updated)

The IEEE Conference on Business Informatics will be held Aug 28 – Sept 01 in Paris.  There you can submit invited case reports of around 10 pages showing experience with the technology.  The deadline is floating (until mid July)
