Insights from German flagship conference Wirtschaftsinformatik 2015

Last week, the BPinPM.net team visited the conference Wirtschaftsinformatik 2015 in Osnabrück. Topic of this year’s conference was Smart Enterprise Engineering.

In three days, several research and business tracks gave visitors insights in emerging trends of information systems. Furthermore, different companies (e.g., Thyssen Krupp or SAP) presented their next steps for achieving digitalized business.

For example, Thyssen Krupp wants to use Big Data and digitalization to revolutionize their elevator business. In the future, elevators won’t be travelling solely vertically but also horizontally. In the keynote, this video was shown. We found it very impressing and it fits very well to our scheduled innovation workshop “BPM meets the Innovation Helix“. So, we want to share it with you:

Besides the business tracks, the German research community presented their recent work. The presented papers dealt with Business Process Management, Information Systems Usage, or Social Media an Collective Intelligence.

We are proud that one of our team members also presented her work at the conference. Janina Kettenbohrer talked about impact of employees’ attitude toward their job on business process standardization acceptance. She and her two colleagues Dr. Andreas Eckhardt and Prof. Dr. Daniel Beimborn developed a theoretical model which explains how job-related attributes (e.g., autonomy or skill variety), work-role fit, co-worker relation, and the wider process environment influence the employees’ perception of meaningfulness of work and consequently process standardization acceptance. If you are interested in Janina’s latest work, you can find her paper here:

If you’re interested in testing the model in your organization and in finding out how to successfully implement process standards, please contact Janina.
