F1 Race Recap: Hamilton’s Heroic Comeback in Silverstone

Blog: The Tibco Blog

It was a fast-paced Formula One weekend in Silverstone as Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas and TIBCO partner Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport took to the track for the British Grand Prix.

After a masterful qualifying performance on Saturday, Hamilton secured the 50th pole of his F1 career, with Bottas in P4.

On Sunday, some TIBCO team members got a first-hand look at the pre-race action down in the pit.

The drivers were soon perched on the grid, ready to get rolling. Right off the starting line, the drama began:

After spinning out and rejoining the back of the pack, Hamilton knew he had a lot of ground to make up. Like a hot knife through butter, he moved effortlessly through the crowd of competitors to bring himself back into serious contention.

After a quick trip through the pit lane, Hamilton was back on a fresh set of tires with the podium in his sights.

With his traction rejuvenated, Hamilton set a blistering pace to close the gap.

Showing complete confidence in their driver, the crew knew the rest was up to Hamilton.

As Bottas’ pace began to fall behind, Hamilton sprinted ahead to charge for the finish.

After an epic comeback, Hamilton wasn’t able to make it past Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel before crossing the line in P2.

While it wasn’t the perfect homecoming he’d hoped for, Hamilton was treated to a hero’s welcome by his hometown crowd after an incredible performance.

Up next, the German Grand Prix on July 22.
