DoT set-up a joint working group on Work from Home
Blog: NASSCOM Official Blog
Dear Members,
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has set up a joint working group (JWG) to look into the industry requirements related to work from home (WFH) for entities that are registered as Other Service Providers (OSP). The working group comprises of senior DoT officials, NASSCOM and members of the IT-BPM industry. Some of the issues on which the working group is deliberating upon include the need to make current relaxations permanent, enable employees to work from anywhere instead of home locations, adoption of cloud based solutions for better productivity etc.
The JWG met twice in the month of August and deliberated on various aspects of the OSP terms and conditions to enable WFH on a long term basis and is expected to submitted its recommendations to Secretary DoT shortly on this aspect. Given the current pandemic, the DoT had earlier relaxed terms and conditions for OSPs to enable work from home for their employees till 31.12.2020 (read more).
We shall keep the members posted on further development. NASSCOM had previously made a detailed feedback to TRAI on the need to review the current OSP regime in line with changing business requirements (read more).
