Create and publish a BPMN process

Blog: Aris BPM Blog

To describe different content and information you can use different model types. In ARIS Elements 7 model types are available: process landscape, BPMN, Event-driven process, Organizational chart, System diagram, Data model and Structuring model.

The BPMN process is used to describe chronological sequence of matching events and tasks to define control flow. Let´s talk a little bit about how to create a BMPN process. Basic elements of BMPN processes are events, tasks, gateways and pools and lanes. To get the quick overview what are the rules for creating a BPMN processes check our cheat sheet.

You can learn how to create and publish the BPMN process in this short training video. The final BPMN process from the trainings video might look like this:

After you save the diagram you can use the publish icon (top right) and add it to published content.

To make your model more informative you can add further information to any kind of element in your model.

Using message flows you can connect external actors (customers, applicants, etc.) to your process.

For main object types, more detailed symbols are available:

You also have the satellite modeling option which allows you to add organizational relationship to your process (visible on the right side in “details window” after you click on the task)

To see how you can use all this additional option in your model check out this training video. The final diagram from the tutorial might look like this:

At the end you should check the “semantic check” if there are any errors, warnings or notes that will let you know that something is wrong in your model, or some rules have been broken. To run semantic check, click the icon left down.
