Comment on Workflow Quotes From 10 Percent Of 460 Open EHR Workflow Analyst Positions by Randy

If you do a quick “eye-ball” analysis of the list jobs, I am guessing that the second most popular word found (besides workflow) is clinical. This is where i have to scratch my head. I have worked in many industries including healthcare and I live with an EPIC application analyst and we both can’t fathom why clinicians are sought after for, what is to me, clearly an IT role. I am not implying that clinicians are not fundamental to defining and implementing workflow, but they should be looked at as a SME and not the driver of implementing. This is also the case of and EHR implementation. The resources requested to implement a software application are coming from a clinical background. They don’t understand SDLC, requirements, rules, configuration, data strucure, etc. Yes, they know the workflow, but they should be a SME, not the implementation analyst!
