Comment on Harmon on BPM: Elon Musk on Productivity by Tom Diersch

Blog: BPTrends - Harmon on BPM

Paul, I think that some numbers in your analysis are incorrect? Tesla, in their internal note has produced 2000+ units per week, which would approximate 8000+ units per month not 5000 per month as you note. He is now shooting for 5000 –> to 6000 stretch goal per week, not per month. The 6000 per week goal will use an additional shift (50% increase in labour) so that should take them to 3000 per week using the same techniques (assuming they can keep the parts line running and maintenance doesn’t slow them down). So annual production is 100,000 units at 2000 per week, 150,000 units at 3000 per week and 300,000 units at 6000 per week. Please review your numbers and see where I might have misinterpreted the Musk memo.
