bpmNEXT 2015: CMMN and BPMN Combined presented by Jakob Freund, Camunda
CMMN is OMGs standard for Case Management. However in most situations, a concrete application consists of both structured flows and cases. This is why we think BPMN and CMMN should be combined. While this is currently not the case in terms of specifications, we decided to implement the CMMN standard as part of our existing BPMN execution platform, and provide a common API in order to create the according applications. Camunda is a mature and powerful BPM platform already. It’s open source, so anyone can use it for free and extend it with their own contributions. Since it’s lightweight and developer-friendly, it’s the perfect solution for typical developers. With CMMN added to the stack, it’s easier for developers to create powerful applications that cover both workflow and cases, which is of course also helpful for end users.
Jakob is Co-CEO of camunda, author of ‘Real-Life BPMN’ and a regular speaker at numerous conferences . He is in the BPM space for more than 10 years now.
