BPMN Tutorial – Part 3 – Animating Scenarios in BPMN Processes

Communicating the detail of scenarios depicted in BPMN diagrams can be time-consuming and difficult. In this tutorial, we show how the concept of a token, as described in the Business Process Modeling and Notation version 2.0 specification, can be used to animate paths or scenarios within business processes. Using Innovator for Business Analysts – a free personal edition of which is available from http://www.apterosolutions.com/products/106-free-bpmn-2-tool-innovator.html – we record and playback animation paths and use these defined paths to filter scenario diagrams and generate scenario documentation.
