Benetech Makes Reading Disabilities Easier to Overcome
Blog: The Tibco Blog
A Palo Alto, California non-profit, Benetech empowers communities in need by creating scalable technology solutions. In the area of literacy, it gives people who cannot read due to blindness, low vision, dyslexia, and other print disabilities availability to over 450,000 ebooks in accessible formats through an online library called Bookshare.
In addition to books, Bookshare supplies free apps to read its content. These apps provide a basic reading experience that allows members to login, find, and read. But, beyond these tools, the company did not have the resources to build all the types of reading apps users wanted. After researching how companies like Adobe, Google, Microsoft, and Salesforce built successful partner programs, it found that a successful developer program leveraged APIs and partner support.
It was clear that an API management platform was required, and TIBCO Mashery was selected in large part because of its very intuitive developer portal.
“TIBCO Mashery was a game changer for our members and for running our business,” says Associate Director of Marketing Mario Oliveros. “It enabled us to scale. Using the TIBCO Mashery API management platform opened up opportunities we would never have captured.”
