The TIBCO Blog: What does the Stevie Award Women in Business recognition mean to you?

Michele Haddad: As a Stevie Award Winner for Women in Business, this is an acknowledgement of my contribution as a senior leader within TIBCO Software. Yet, sitting in the awards, I realized how many women are taking success to a whole new level. Our collective accomplishments represent the fact that women are not letting anyone hold them back.

TTB: What is your proudest moment at TIBCO?

MH: Being given the opportunity to head up HR, a function that was entirely new to me—with support from many people in senior management—was a great moment.

TTB: What motivates you?

MH: Working with a strong team and seeing us achieve milestones as we work towards a challenging but realistic goal is really motivating for me.

TTB: What’s a little known fact about you?

MH: I’m a native Northern Californian and a certified SCUBA diver.

TTB: What is your leadership style?

MH: I enjoy data and appreciate a direct approach. The more clearly facts are presented to me, the more clearly I can discuss and address the topic at hand. Most people who work with me understand this.

TTB: What is your key to success?

MH: Hard work is a given. Building relationships and taking risks has helped, but at the end of the day, it is about follow through on my commitments. I also made a point of volunteering for opportunities, which led to new opportunities being offered to me—and I took them all.

TTB: What is your advice to women in a male-dominated industry such as technology.

MH: Volunteer for things that may feel uncomfortable—do it anyway. Don’t be afraid to interrupt. When you have something of value to say, say it. Push your own limits and it will push others. You will always learn something or build a new relationship. A willingness to learn and building relationships are valuable assets for everyone in life.

Congratulations, Michele! The entire TIBCO team is so proud of your hard work and accomplishments!
