AdaptiveCM Workshop in America for first time

The Sixth International AdaptiveCM Workshop will be associated with the EDOC conference this year, which will be held in Quebec City in October 2017 and is the first opportunity for many US and Canadian researchers to attend without having to travel to Europe.
Since 2011 the AdaptiveCM Workshop has been the premier place to present and discuss leading edge ideas for advanced case management ideas and other non-workflow approaches to supporting business processes and knowledge workers in general. It has been held in conjunction with the EDOC conference twice before, and the BPM conference twice as well, however it has always been held in Europe in the past.
Key dates:
- Paper submission deadline – May 7, 2017
- Notification of acceptance – July 16, 2017
- Camera ready – August 6, 2017
- Workshop – October 10, 2017
Papers are welcome on the following topics:
- Non-workflow BPM: how does one specify and working patterns that are not fixed in advance, that depend upon cooperation, and where the elaboration of the working pattern for a specific case is a product of the work itself. Past workshops have included papers on CMMN and Dynamic Condition Response Graphs.
- Adaptive Case Management: experience and approaches how knowledge workers use their time in an agile way, including empirical studies of how knowledge work teams share and control their information including vendors like Computas and ISIS Papyrus.
- Decision Modeling and Management: is a new extension of the workshop this year to encourage papers that explore the ways that a decision model might be used away from a strictly defined process diagram for flexible knowledge work.
The biggest challenge is that many people working on systems for knowledge workers don’t know their systems have features in common with others. For example: a system to help lawyers file all the right paperwork with the courts may not be seen initially as having commonality with a system to help maintenance workers handle emergency repairs. Those commonalities exist — because people must manage their time in the face of change — and understanding their common structure is critical to allowing agile organizations to operate more effectively. Collaboration between research and practice
Participants in the past have been from from all the key research institutions across Europe as well as some of the key vendors of flexible work support systems. This year we hope to attract more interest from researchers and practitioners from Canada, the US, and the western hemisphere together with the core EDOC community drawn from all over the world. Meet and discuss approaches / techniques and spend a day investigating and sharing all the latest approaches.
