5 Must-Watch Moments from Bizagi Catalyst 20

Blog: Bizagi Blog

This year, the Bizagi Catalyst event went virtual for the first time. This meant we could share our success stories, best practices and analyst views with more people than ever – in over 70 countries. And the best part? All sessions are now available to watch on-demand.

With over nine hours of content, packed with advice from Bizagi experts, and first-hand advice from organizations who are transforming their operations, it’s hard to single our top highlights from Bizagi Catalyst 20. In addition to an abundance of information, we also celebrated Women in Tech in honor of Ada Lovelace Day and had interactive sessions with Bizagi’s partners. Plus, we can’t forget the excellent insight that was shared by our analyst guests, Forrester’s Rob Koplowitz, and Column 2’s Sandy Kemsley.

You can catch up on all the Catalyst sessions in your own time now. With so much to choose from, we recommend that you start with these five must-watch moments.

1 – Bizagi CEO’s call to keep innovating in 2020 and beyond

“Do not stand still. Do
not allow this difficult environment to limit your appetite for innovation….
You should expect to make mistakes, and even celebrate mistakes for the
valuable lessons they provide. Fear of failure is one of the biggest barriers
to innovation.”  – Gustavo Gomez, CEO
& Founder, Bizagi

Rapid Response - Gustavo Gomez

Bizagi’s CEO and Founder, Gustavo Gomez, kicked off our first-ever virtual Catalyst event with an insightful keynote on the importance of being agile and using technology innovation to respond to changing business environments.

Did you know Nintendo was established in 1989, selling
plastic playing cards before becoming a leader in the video game space? Or that
YouTube was originally intended to be a dating site before pivoting to become the
most successful video platform in the world?

These examples go to show the importance of being able to adapt your business, which is what many organizations are doing this year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In this keynote, Gomez details examples of how Bizagi customers are increasing innovation and provides advice on how to transform your processes into transactions.

2 – How to digitize an entire process from scratch during lockdown

“We initiated our first project with Bizagi in the middle of COVID-19… we managed to go live in six weeks, entirely remotely. Nobody actually met in-person throughout the design, construction and rollout of this project. We are now fully digital… This initiative has run so well that there is a big future for the next development.” – Mata Veleta, Head of Operational Agility, SCOR

SCOR Catalyst session

Moving from an office environment to working from home
has forced many organizations to reconsider their digital operations. This can
be particularly testing for those who need to find a solution quickly while
their teams have been forced to work remotely at short notice due to COVID.

This scenario didn’t faze insurance provider SCOR, who
pride themselves on their ability to support their customers through adversity.
Mata Veleta, Head of Operational Agility, shared how SCOR digitized its UK
claims assessment process entirely remotely, leading the initiative from design
through to deployment in just six weeks.

The previously manual, paper-based environment is now fully digitized, with Bizagi acting as the key orchestrator. Watch this Bizagi Catalyst 20 session to hear more about how SCOR’s UK claims team can now work from home effectively and benefited 80% increased efficiencies across all admin tasks since June 2020.

3 – Lessons learned from HSA Bank

“Don’t let perfect get in the way of
better. Bizagi really helps you to get started, map a process and learn from
the data… then you can leverage the team, ask them how you can make it better
and continually improve.” – Tom Spolar, Director of Continuous Improvement,
HSA Bank

HSA Bank Catalyst session

HSA Bank, a division of Webster Bank that provides Health Savings Accounts, joined us at Catalyst to share how they have deployed more than 15 automated processes, and created more than 50 reusable BPMN components with Bizagi in the past year. Tom Spolar, Director of Continuous Improvement, and Tyler Rudkin, SVP Solution Architecture, shared their advice for anyone starting, or in the process of, rolling out a business process automation project.

Both Spolar and Rudkin spoke about the importance of “Doing it right before doing it fast”. This is why it’s important to establish, simulate, and validate business processes before applying additional automation technologies such as RPA. That doesn’t mean that it needs to be perfect first time though. Plan your process, deploy it, then begin continuous improvement by working with your team.

Watch their Bizagi Catalyst 20 session to learn about their lean principles which allow for process improvement opportunities and how Bizagi Modeler and Studio are used at key points in HSA Bank’s Business Process Delivery Life Cycle.

4 – The launch of Bizagi Process Accelerators

“Bizagi Professional Services have
tackled some of the most common business problems so that you don’t have to.
80% of the effort is already done and just waiting for that last 20% that is
specific to your business case.” – Rachel Brennan, Senior Director of
Product Marketing, Bizagi

Catalyst KYC demo

Automation
projects are a balancing act between speed, effort and customization, but it
often results in a trade-off depending on your business needs. What if you want
all three? Enter Bizagi’s all new process accelerators, which strike a balance
to deliver a free, easy to deploy, highly customizable experience, with up to
50% faster deployment times. So, while you pursue your opportunities, Bizagi process
accelerators can solve your problems.

In this Industry Solution Keynote Session Bizagi’s Rachel Brennan and Marlando Rhule demonstrated two processes making use of the new Accelerators. First up, KYC – a key process used in banking to verify the identity of the client when opening a new account. The second is Permit Lifecycle Management – a process for municipalities who deal with permits for local residents or contractors to track permit application end-to-end. Watch the demo and the full session to learn more, plus find out more about Catalyst’s Women in Tech initiative.

5 – The Process Professor reveals top Bizagi secrets

“These key elements can help you when
you are creating and automating processes. The idea is to introduce you to some
of the features in [Bizagi] that aren’t as well known, so you know how to use
them and accelerate your digital transformation.”

Kevin Guerrero, Process Professor, Bizagi

Catalyst Dynamic Rules Tracer

This year we decided to let our Catalyst attendees in
on a secret or three… Our resident Process Professor, Kevin Guerrero, shared
some his top tips on how to make the most out of your Bizagi implementations,
including Bizagi Plans and the Custom Connectors.

But the highlight of his session was how to use the Dynamic Rules Tracer feature. When using Bizagi to transform your processes into real applications, one of the key steps is to create expressions that will help capture the logic of your process. When working with larger processes, this step can start to get complicated…  this is where the Dynamic Rules Tracer come in. It lets you test, validate, and track your business rules on run time so in just one click you can test what happens when you execute your process in Bizagi Studio.

Watch the session on-demand to see a demo of how the Dynamic Rules Tracer works, and how to use Bizagi Plans and Custom Connectors to enhance your processes.

You can watch all of these videos on-demand now and catch up on any other sessions that you may have missed. What was your favorite session at Bizagi Catalyst 20? Let us know on social media using #bizagicatalyst
