Spotfire Enthusiasts Come Together for Hackathon at TIBCO’s 14th Annual Houston Energy Forum
Blog: The Tibco Blog
TIBCO is excited and proud of this year’s sold out Energy Forum taking place in Houston, Texas. The annual event, which kicked off September 7, brings together energy specialists to share their experiences and best practices for analytics implementations, as well as discuss the latest innovations and market trends.
On the first day of event, September 7, energy leaders highlighted various use cases—such as industrial internet of things (IIoT) use cases—and re-imagined, modern analytic applications for the oil and gas industry. General themes for the sessions surrounded operational excellence, strategy, and technology.
On September 8, attendees will receive Spotfire training on a variety of topics ranging from simple dashboard building, automating analytics using scripting, and using TIBCO Enterprise Runtime for R (TERR) to run predictive analytics. Many of the attendees will also participate in the Spotfire Hackathon.
The 2-hour Spotfire Hackathon is open to Energy Forum participants, with the goal of bringing Spotfire enthusiasts together to compete and have fun while learning what is possible with Spotfire. The hackathon welcomes Spotfire users of all skill-levels. Through the step-by-step guided hackathon tasks, users will learn while competing for a grand prize. At the beginning of the Hackathon, participants will be given access to files that describe the problem statement and tasks, including advanced analytics tasks, to be completed to win the hackathon.
“Advanced analytics play a major role in the energy industry, increasing efficiencies, uncovering insights, and aiding businesses in achieving competitive advantages,” said Thomas Been, TIBCO’s chief marketing officer. “At TIBCO, we’re helping companies augment intelligence and interconnect everything for a more comprehensive analytics experience. This year’s TIBCO Energy Forum illustrates how our solutions enable businesses to elevate their Oil and Gas intelligence for deeper discovery and more actionable insights. Even with an increased capacity from last year, this event still sold out, reinforcing the hunger for these solutions.”
