Nintex Workplace 2021 Study Shows Remote Work Improves Productivity

Nintex recently released the findings from its Nintex Workplace 2021 Study, which revealed that a majority of employees working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States have been more productive than they expected. Additionally, many reported a desire for automation in order to further enhance productivity from their home office. The study surveyed 1,000 U.S.-based full-time American workers at organizations with 501-50,000 employees.

In this study, Nintex found that 70 percent of respondents stated that their experiences working from home have been better and more productive than they initially projected, citing more family time, no commute, fewer interruptions, and improved work-life balance. The majority of those surveyed reported that they were more efficient since beginning full-time remote work, and 37 percent want their employers to adopt automation software to enhance productivity even further.

Highlights from the study include:
- Work gets done faster at home: 67 percent of respondents report being more efficient since transitioning to remote work. Of those employees, 41 percent said they are getting their work done in far fewer hours per week.
- Less monotonous work: 39 percent of those surveyed said access to software that enables them to automate manual and repetitive tasks would improve their work life.
- Differences in desires between generations: While Baby Boomers are more financially motivated, Generation Z is motivated by process and wants more technology to facilitate their work. 55 percent of Gen Z respondents cited automation software as the primary tool that would make them more productive.
- Workers are divided on the return to the office: 56 percent of employees whose organizations have announced a return to the office are excited by the prospect. However, 51 percent of those surveyed said their work life would improve with the ability to work remotely permanently.
